Nutrition Laboratory

Russell Sage College made a strategic decision to incorporate their Nutrition Science program into the Campus Science Building. The architecture+ team transformed a former Biology Laboratory on the first floor into a Nutrition Laboratory outfitted with commercial kitchen equipment. Accommodating commercial kitchen hoods with fire suppression and mechanical makeup air requirements proved challenging in an operating science building with the existing building constraints. The design team worked collaboratively within the building constraints to find a creative solution that incorporated the mechanical design requirements while creating a dynamic instructional space.
