The Glen at Hiland Meadows
Queensbury, New York

architecture+ designed several conceptual options for a memory care facility to be located at The Glen at Hiland Meadows Campus. We conducted a series of in-depth programming sessions with administrators and caregivers to determine the most appropriate location for the unit on Campus as well as floor plans and bedroom configurations. Fourteen resident bedrooms were organized along the building perimeter with several therapeutic activity spaces and memory-caring nodes. Other elements included a country kitchen and full spa located in the open living area.

architecture+ also worked with The Glen to assess their assisted living apartments, which are currently under sized. We assessed the current mix of apartment types and developed options for enlarging some units to provide more variety. The proposed apartments would offer residents more living space and would augment the storage capacity in each apartment.

Finally, architecture+ worked with The Glen to design alternations to the existing Country Store. By consolidating the retail function of the Store, The Glen was able to introduce an elaborate salad bar that had been a consistent request of the residents. The location of the salad bar, which serves the Independent Living Dining Room, streamlines the pedestrian traffic, freeing up valuable space for dining.
