The Community Library
Cobleskill, New York

architecture+ prepared a feasibility study and designed the renovation of the library to improve space utilization of the existing building. We connected the main library spaces on the first and second floors with a new opening. The opening, along with the addition of an elevator, allowed the library to expand its collection space without sacrificing supervision.

The new opening also brought a stronger sense of light and unity to the historic building that is further enhanced by the new finishes. The use of detail tied the new work into the building's existing character.

"Along with thanks for your imagination and insight, we are grateful for your early patience and guidance, absolutely vital to a library Board completely at sea when it came to organizing the project."

Linda Bidwell, Past President, The Community Library Board of Trustees
