architecture+ worked with the Albany Academies and Sano-Rubin Construction Services, LLC, to meet the dining and foodservice needs for the Albany Academy for Girls Facility. The student population had outgrown the original lunchroom. The original gymnasium was identified as a potential new dining space however the reconfiguration of the kitchen was cost prohibitive.
architecture+ solved the problem by re-purposing an existing locker room as a servery while the gymnasium became the new dining room. The servery connected the original kitchen to the new dining room and improved the foodservice operations. The renovation included exterior windows in the dining room and updated finishes and lighting throughout. The original wood gymnasium floor was refinished to stay within the project budget.
